Seyi Onasanya Named Chief Operating Officer of Nigeria Internet Registration Association

The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has appointed Ms. Seyi Onasanya as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective April 1, 2025.

NiRA, a not-for-profit and non-governmental organization, is responsible for managing Nigeria’s country code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD), “.ng”. The association plays a central role in safeguarding the stability, security, and reliability of the country’s internet infrastructure.

Ms. Onasanya steps into the role following the departure of Mrs. Eyitayo Iyortim, who was recently elected Chairperson/President of the African Top-Level Domains (AfTLD).

In her new position, Ms. Onasanya will lead NiRA’s management team, oversee daily operations, and serve as Secretary to the Executive Board of Directors. She is tasked with driving strategic execution and operational efficiency across the organization.

Mr. Adesola Akinsanya, President of NiRA, expressed confidence in her leadership, stating:

Bringing over two decades of experience to the role, Ms. Onasanya has held senior leadership positions across consulting and advisory sectors. She previously served as Director at SNEVA Global Associates, Director and Head of Business Advisory at FITC, and was People & Organisation Senior Manager at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Her career spans large-scale transformation projects for government bodies, regulators, and private institutions across Nigeria and internationally.

A respected authority in organizational strategy, digital capability building, HR transformation, governance, and leadership coaching, she has supported clients across Africa and Asia in developing future-ready institutions.

Her appointment signals a new phase for NiRA as it strengthens its commitment to digital innovation, internet accessibility, and the promotion of national digital identity through the .ng domain.
