Ogun State, Terra Kulture Join Forces to Launch Film and Entertainment Village

The Ogun State Government is set to collaborate with Terra Kulture to establish a dedicated film and entertainment village, Governor Dapo Abiodun announced during a meeting with Terra Kulture’s CEO, Bolanle Austen-Peters, in Abeokuta on Saturday.

Governor Abiodun expressed the state's enthusiasm for the project, describing it as a strategic move to preserve and celebrate Ogun’s rich cultural heritage in music, film, drama, and entertainment.

“From the onset of this administration, we had wanted to have some sort of creative arts and entertainment zone, but the government had been laden with many activities.

‘My administration has been paying attention to matters that touch the lives of the people directly. It is when people are comfortable and happy that they will begin to think of relaxing and being entertained,” Abiodun said.

He emphasized that the state was ready to begin work on the initiative, with plans to kick off the first phase within the next 60 days and a groundbreaking ceremony to follow.

“We would be very happy to invest in it. We will entrust the running and operation of the film village to you as well,” he added.

Abiodun also noted that the project aligns with broader efforts to revitalize Ogun’s tourism and cultural sites. The government, he said, has started restoring significant historical buildings, including the homes of Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s mother, MKO Abiola, and the residence that once hosted the Queen of England.

“Going forward, we have begun to look at our heritage sites, and we are trying to work on them, restore them, and make them more attractive to our tourists.

“A few weeks ago, I was at Olumo Rock, and we are working hard to prepare it to receive visitors like never before in the next four weeks,” he said.

With the National Sports Festival set to be hosted in Ogun State in May, the governor said over 12,000 visitors are expected, providing an opportunity to showcase the state’s cultural and entertainment offerings.

The administration is also considering the creation of a Hall of Fame to honor Ogun’s heroes and share their legacies with future generations.

In her remarks, Austen-Peters expressed excitement about the partnership and the opportunity to transform Ogun into a cultural and tourism hub.

“We are focused on celebrating our Ogun heroes:. Many of you know that the state has produced numerous musicians, actors, performers, and writers; the list is endless.

“Terra Kulture is in the state to build an entire ecosystem around the cultural space in the state,” she said, adding that the proposed film village would also generate wealth and drive economic activity in the region.
