UEFA and Clubs Partner with Relevent for Global Commercial Rights

Relevent Sports has secured a groundbreaking deal to manage commercial rights for the UEFA Champions League and other top European men’s club soccer competitions from the 2027-28 season through 2032-33.

Through an agreement with UC3, a newly formed joint venture between UEFA and the European Club Association, Relevent will establish a dedicated company to oversee the sale of media, sponsorship, and licensing rights for the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, Super Cup, Youth League, and the Futsal Champions League.

The agreement follows an open tender process, culminating in exclusive negotiations between UC3 and Relevent last month. This win marks a significant milestone for Relevent, as it displaces Switzerland-based TEAM Marketing, which had managed UEFA’s global rights for three decades. Relevent had previously gained a foothold in the industry by securing UEFA’s U.S. commercial rights in the previous cycle while TEAM retained the global contract. Now, UEFA and Europe’s 700-plus clubs have placed their full confidence in Relevent.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but UEFA’s men’s club competitions generate substantial revenue. From 2019-20 through 2022-23, UEFA reported earnings of 17.3 billion Euros ($18.7 billion at the current exchange rate), with 76% attributed to its club competitions.

Relevent is set to commence the sales process for the next two commercial cycles (three seasons each) this summer. In the U.S., CBS holds the English-language broadcast rights through the 2029-30 season, while TelevisaUnivision’s Spanish-language contract expires after the 2026-27 season.
