Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading authority on project management, is excited to announce the return of PMI Global Summit Series Africa 2025. Set to take place from August 19 to 21 at the Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda, this premier event makes its long-awaited comeback following its postponement in 2024. As Africa’s leading project management gathering, the Summit will unite key stakeholders to foster collaboration, innovation, and skills development in the profession.
PMI Sub-Saharan Africa’s flagship event returns with a broader agenda, featuring expert-led discussions and deeper engagement opportunities for project professionals. Under the theme "Africa On Purpose: Gather. Grow. Guide," the Summit will bring together industry leaders, executives, and government representatives to explore the evolving role of project management in Africa’s development.
Held in Rwanda, known for its world-class infrastructure and reputation as a top conference destination, the Summit will showcase thought-provoking keynotes, industry-focused panels, and discussions on AI, digital transformation, and sustainability—key drivers shaping the future of project management.
"The decision to return to Rwanda was a natural one, as the country reflects key values that drive successful project management—innovation, resilience, and a commitment to progress," says George Asamani, Managing Director, PMI Sub-Saharan Africa. “We also wanted to honour our commitment to project professionals in Rwanda and ensure that the efforts of the community in organising PMI Global Summit Series Africa were not in vain. In fact, their work has laid an even stronger foundation for a Summit that will be more impactful, relevant, and future-focused than ever before."
The Summit will offer interactive workshops and masterclasses, equipping attendees with practical skills to navigate today’s complex project landscape. AI-focused educational sessions, immersive experiences, and exclusive networking opportunities will provide professionals with the latest industry insights and best practices. Attendees will also gain firsthand knowledge of new certifications and professional development opportunities from PMI, keeping them competitive in the ever-evolving job market.
“We are excited to bring this truly global experience to professionals in the region, providing them with access to world-class insights, expertise, and networking opportunities that will empower them to drive impactful change in their industries and communities,” says Innocent Kayigamba, President, PMI Rwanda Chapter.
A key feature of PMI Global Summit Series Africa 2025 will be the dedicated Youth Edition, designed to equip the next generation of project leaders with essential skills for success. Targeted at students, young professionals, and emerging leaders, this special edition will offer tailored sessions on leadership, career development, and the role of project management in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
With AI, new methodologies, and global collaboration transforming the profession, this initiative aims to prepare young professionals to lead with confidence in an ever-changing world. PMI has long been at the forefront of building project management capacity across Africa, acknowledging the critical role project managers play in driving economic development, infrastructure expansion, and social impact initiatives.
"By fostering an early appreciation for project management principles, we reinforce our commitment to developing Africa’s talent pipeline and ensuring the profession continues to drive the continent’s growth," adds Asamani.
