The PlayStation Network (PSN) remains down after 18 hours, leaving gamers unable to access online services during a crucial weekend for tournaments and special events.
PSN, Sony’s online gaming platform for PlayStation users, allows players to compete, shop, and connect globally. The outage began around midnight on Friday in the UK, affecting thousands of users.
More than 71,000 players have reported issues on PlayStation’s website, with many unable to join multiplayer lobbies, access the PlayStation Store, or log into their accounts.
The disruption has sparked frustration, especially among subscribers paying £13.49 per month, £39.99 for three months, or £119.99 annually for premium access. Many have voiced concerns over paying for a service that remains offline.
Weekend events in popular titles like FC 25 and Call of Duty have been impacted. FC 25’s Ultimate Team mode, known for its high-stakes “weekend league” matches, is inaccessible for players who have invested significant time and money into building their squads. Meanwhile, Call of Duty fans are missing out on a promotional event featuring double XP rewards in Black Ops 6 and Warzone.
Social media has been flooded with memes, complaints, and demands for compensation.
“Let’s be real; everyone deserves this month’s PS Plus for free. Paying monthly for the network to be down on a weekend is belligerent. Did someone fall asleep during their night shift? Heading into hour 5,” one X user wrote.
“I work a 9 to 5 and come home just to see the PlayStation servers are down on a Friday,” another user posted.
Sony has yet to provide a timeline for restoring service.
