Apple Unveils iPhone 16e: A Budget-Friendly Option with Premium Features

Apple introduced the iPhone 16e on Wednesday, expanding its iPhone 16 series with a more affordable option. The device marks the fourth generation of Apple's budget-friendly SE lineup.

Starting at $599, the iPhone 16e comes with storage options of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. It will be available in two matte finishes—black and white—according to Apple's press release.

Silicone cases in five colors—winter blue, fuchsia, lake green, black, and white—will be sold separately for $39.

Pre-orders open on Friday, Feb. 21, with general availability beginning Friday, Feb. 28.

According to Apple's press release, customers can get up to $120 in credit when trading in an iPhone 11 or up to $170 for an iPhone 12 through Apple Trade In. Carrier promotions offer even greater discounts, with up to $400 in credit for an iPhone 11 and up to $599 for an iPhone 12.

• Image Playground: Enables photo creation based on descriptions, concepts, or people.
• Genmoji: Lets users design custom emojis.
