Tinubu Appoints Sylvester Nwakuche as Acting Controller-General of Nigerian Correctional Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Sylvester Nwakuche as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

The appointment, announced by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary to the Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire Service, and Correctional Service Board (CDCFIB), follows the conclusion of Haliru Nababa’s tenure. Ahmed stated that Nwakuche’s new role takes effect on Sunday, highlighting the appointee's extensive experience and commitment to the Service.

President Tinubu urged Nwakuche to leverage his expertise to drive the ongoing transformation of the NCoS.

Born on November 26, 1966, in Oguta, Imo State, Nwakuche has had a distinguished career within the Service. Before his appointment, he served as the Deputy Controller-General (DCG) overseeing the Training and Staff Development Directorate, where he significantly contributed to shaping the agency's training policies.

A Fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and a recipient of the national honor of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR), Nwakuche is tasked with building on the achievements of his predecessor and introducing fresh initiatives to enhance the NCoS’s operations.
