Nigerian Exchange Hits N60 Trillion Milestone as Investors Pocket N374 Billion Gains


Equities investors on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) realised a significant gain of N374 billion as oil stocks, including Oando Energy and Aradel Holdings, powered market momentum.

Continuing its bullish trend, the local bourse ended the week on a positive note, with key market indices rising by 0.63% on Friday. The NGX All-Share Index climbed 617.47 points, closing at 99,378.06.

Market activity showed robust improvement, with total trading volume increasing by 11.15% and total trading value surging by 50.65%. According to Atlass Portfolios Limited, 544.24 million units worth N10.63 billion were exchanged in 8,464 deals.

In terms of volume, JAPAULGOLD dominated, contributing 13.43% of Friday's traded shares. Other major contributors were ETRANSACT (13.24%), TANTALIZER (10.73%), FCMB (6.19%), and UNIVINSURE (5.07%).

For value traded, Aradel Holdings led the charts, accounting for 10.52% of total transactions. The top gainers included Aradel, IKEJAHOTEL, and CAVERTON, each appreciating by 10.00%, while AFRIPRUD (+9.87%), GOLDBREW (+9.64%), and OANDO (+7.66%) also performed strongly.

Despite the overall market uptrend, 14 stocks declined. AUSTINLAZ was the worst performer, shedding 10.00%, followed by ABCTRANS (-8.00%) and ROYALEX (-7.69%).

The market breadth remained positive, with 36 gainers outpacing 14 losers. Sector performance also leaned optimistic: insurance rose by 1.52%, banking gained 0.63%, and consumer goods advanced by 0.46%, while oil & gas and industrial sectors stayed flat.

Overall, the NGX market capitalization reached an all-time high of N60.24 trillion, marking another significant milestone for investors.
