Nigeria Partners with Bloomberg to Rebrand Image and Attract Global Investment

The Nigerian government has announced a two-year partnership with global media giant Bloomberg to rebrand the country’s international image and attract foreign investors.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI) on Thursday, the initiative aims to address negative perceptions, highlight Nigeria’s economic potential, and showcase opportunities in key sectors.

During a meeting with Finance Minister Wale Edun, Nicole Keefe, Bloomberg’s global director, emphasised the company’s commitment to reshaping Nigeria’s narrative. “We aim to leverage our extensive media network to spotlight Nigeria’s achievements and opportunities, addressing outdated or negative perceptions that may deter investors,” she stated.

Armstrong Takang, CEO of MOFI, highlighted the importance of the partnership in promoting major government initiatives, such as the Real Estate Investment Fund and gas pipeline projects, which are critical to revitalizing the country’s economy.

According to the IMF, Nigeria’s GDP, once the largest in Africa, now ranks fourth at nearly $200 billion. The government sees the Bloomberg collaboration as a strategic step to regain investor confidence and restore the nation’s economic standing on the global stage.
