Juliet Anammah Appointed Board Chairman of Nigerian Breweries


Nigerian Breweries Plc has named Juliet Anammah as its new Board Chairman, effective January 1, 2025. The announcement, made via a regulatory filing on the Nigerian Exchange, marks a significant leadership transition for the company.

Anammah succeeds Sijbe “Siep” Hiemstra, who served as interim board chairman since January 2024. Her appointment was confirmed during the company’s Board of Directors meeting held on December 12, 2024, as stated by Uaboi Agbebaku, Company Secretary/Legal Director.

Before assuming the chairmanship, Anammah served as Chair of the Governance and Ethics Committee of Nigerian Breweries, leveraging her extensive expertise in consulting, consumer goods, sales, marketing, e-commerce, and sustainability. She joined the board on January 1, 2022, bringing with her three decades of professional experience.

Anammah’s illustrious career includes her tenure as Chair and Chief Group Sustainability Officer at Jumia Nigeria, where she also previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer. Her leadership and strategic insights are expected to drive Nigerian Breweries forward in its commitment to innovation and sustainable growth.

She had also served as the Managing Director, Accenture LLC, in charge of the firm’s Consumer Goods Practice, Retail, and Transportation Practice in West Africa. She has also served on various boards of local and international organisations, including Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc.

Following this appointment, which takes effect January 1, 2025, the board will now be composed of Mrs. J. Anammah, Chair; H. Essaadi (Dutch), Managing Director/Chief Executive; Mrs. A.O. Aroyewun; S. Hiemstra (Dutch); MFR; Mrs. S. Ojekwe-Onyejeli; Mrs. I.M. Omoigui Okauru, J.A.A. Overmars (Dutch); R. Pirmez (Belgian); I.A. Puri; B.A. Wessels Boer (Dutch).
