The Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Mr. Ayodele Subair, has been awarded an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration (Honoris Causa) by Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA). The award was conferred during the university’s 13th convocation ceremony and its 25th anniversary celebration on December 14, 2024.
According to AAUA’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, the recognition celebrates Dr. Subair’s remarkable contributions to taxation in Nigeria and his exceptional leadership, which has driven unprecedented success at LIRS. Under his stewardship, LIRS has achieved a phenomenal 310% growth in revenue, setting a benchmark for effective tax administration through innovation and operational excellence.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Subair expressed deep gratitude for the honor, highlighting the transformative impact of education. He urged graduands to embrace their roles as agents of change and continue advocating for the power of education to transform lives and societies.
Addressing the students, he urged them to embrace lifelong learning, highlighting their vital role as future leaders, innovators, and change-makers whose contributions would profoundly impact society.
