Yellow Card Secures $33M in Series C Funding Led by Blockchain Capital to Drive Expansion Across Africa

Yellow Card, the pioneering stablecoin platform and the first to be licensed in Africa, has successfully raised $33 million in a Series C funding round. This equity round was led by Blockchain Capital, with notable participation from investors such as Polychain Capital, Third Prime Ventures, Castle Island Ventures, Block, Inc., Galaxy Ventures, Blockchain Coinvestors, Hutt Capital, and Winklevoss Capital.

This funding milestone underscores the growing recognition of Yellow Card's contributions to the African FinTech landscape, as well as the broader adoption of stablecoins on the continent. It also highlights the increasing use cases for stablecoin technology in global financial systems.

Chris Maurice, CEO and co-founder of Yellow Card, emphasized the importance of this round, stating, "This fundraise not only demonstrates our resilience but also highlights the critical role digital assets play for businesses across Africa. We’re thrilled to partner with investors who share our vision for the future of finance on the continent."

Launched in Nigeria in 2019, Yellow Card now operates in 20 African countries, having processed over $3 billion in transactions. The newly raised capital will fuel further growth, with a focus on expanding the company’s API and widget products, which are key gateways for international businesses—such as Coinbase and Block—to access African markets. Yellow Card also aims to enhance its offerings for Pan-African companies, enabling them to make seamless international payments and manage treasury operations via stablecoins.

This funding round reflects investor confidence in Yellow Card’s mission to revolutionize payments across Africa. Aleks Larsen, General Partner at Blockchain Capital, commented, "The future of payments lies in fast, affordable rails powered by open networks. We are excited to support Yellow Card as they lead Africa’s digital transformation with stablecoins."

Yellow Card continues to empower businesses of all sizes across the continent by simplifying international payments and providing stable access to hard currency liquidity.
