WhatsApp is making video calls more fun and engaging with the introduction of filters and backgrounds. Starting today, users can personalise their video calls by adding filters or changing backgrounds, allowing for a more expressive and customised experience.
Filters add a creative flair to your calls, offering playful touches like vibrant colours or artistic effects. Meanwhile, the new background options allow users to keep their environment private or transport themselves to cosy spaces like a coffee shop or living room, creating a cleaner and more polished look.
With 10 filters and 10 backgrounds to choose from, users can mix and match for a unique visual experience. Filters include options like Warm, Cool, Black & White, Dreamy, and Vintage TV, while backgrounds feature selections such as Blur, Office, Cafe, Beach, and Sunset.
In addition to filters and backgrounds, WhatsApp is introducing "Touch up" and "Low Light" settings, which enhance natural appearance and adjust brightness to make video calls clearer and more vibrant.
To use these new effects, simply tap the effects icon in the top right corner during any 1:1 or group video call. These features will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks.
