Vantage Capital Secures €66M Investment Deal with Camusat to Drive Telecom Expansion and Sustainability in Africa

Vantage Capital, Africa’s largest mezzanine fund manager, has announced the completion of a €66 million mezzanine investment in Camusat Holding S.A.S. The investment will help refinance debt and support the expansion of Camusat's AktivCo division, which focuses on infrastructure for mobile network operators (MNOs). This deal is part of a larger €81 million financing package, which includes contributions from Eurazeo, a leading European investment group.

Camusat is a key player in the global telecommunications industry, specializing in sustainable infrastructure solutions that support MNOs in reducing their carbon footprint. The company’s two main divisions, AktivCo and OpCo, play complementary roles in the telecom ecosystem. AktivCo provides Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) by financing and managing telecom infrastructure under long-term contracts, prioritizing sustainable and digitalized solutions. OpCo, meanwhile, delivers technical expertise and operational support for designing, building, and maintaining telecom networks.

With operations in 20 countries, including 15 across Africa, Camusat is a vital partner for major telecom operators such as Orange, MTN, Vodafone, and Airtel. The company is helping MNOs expand coverage, particularly in underserved rural areas of Africa, where network infrastructure remains sparse. Camusat’s business model supports MNOs by enabling them to outsource non-core operations, allowing for more efficient and cost-effective management of telecom infrastructure.

Richard Thomas, CEO of Camusat, expressed confidence in the partnership with Vantage Capital, emphasizing the strategic importance of this collaboration as Camusat continues to expand across Africa. Luc Albinski, Executive Chairman of Vantage Capital, highlighted Camusat’s deep industry knowledge and commitment to improving connectivity in underdeveloped regions. Both companies share a strong alignment in ethics, vision, and dedication to sustainable growth.

Thibaut de Rodellec, Deputy CEO of Camusat, and Driss Benabdeslam, Partner at Vantage Capital, echoed the sentiment, with Benabdeslam noting Camusat’s best-in-class ESG practices and significant positive social impact. The deal marks Vantage Capital’s 39th investment across 11 African countries.

Vantage Capital was advised by Clifford Chance (Morocco) for legal counsel, while KPMG (France), Webber Wentzel (South Africa), and Emerton (France) provided financial, tax, and commercial advice. Ibis Consulting (France) reviewed the environmental impact of the investment.
