Sony is expected to unveil the PlayStation 5 Pro tomorrow during a short livestream, scheduled for 11AM ET on September 10 via the PlayStation YouTube channel. The "PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation" will be hosted by Mark Cerny, the lead architect of the PS5, and will highlight "PS5 and innovations in gaming technology."
All signs point to this being the official debut of the highly anticipated PS5 Pro. Just days ago, Sony teased an image of a redesigned PS5, which aligns with various leaks about the Pro version. It was widely anticipated that Sony would reveal the PS5 Pro in mid-September, ahead of the holiday shopping season.
The teaser video for the event includes the tagline, "The Journey Continues," adding further credence to the PS5 Pro's imminent announcement. This approach mirrors Sony’s 2020 livestream, where Cerny detailed the PS5's specs after the Game Developers Conference pivoted due to COVID-19.
Rumors surrounding the PS5 Pro suggest significant upgrades, including improved and stable frame rates at 4K resolution, and an 8K performance mode in supported games. The console is expected to offer 45% faster game rendering than the standard PS5, along with ray-tracing capabilities that could be two to three times faster.
