In a bold move to address Nigeria’s mounting food security challenges, Origin Tech Group is leading the Greener Hope Agriculture Mechanization Productivity Programme (GHAPP). This groundbreaking initiative is designed to enhance food production and strengthen the country’s agricultural resilience. By deploying cutting-edge machinery, optimizing land usage, and making strategic investments in both production and processing, GHAPP is set to increase Nigeria’s food output by over 2 million metric tonnes.
Nigeria's food security has been severely compromised due to issues like border insecurity, uncontrolled immigration, and rampant smuggling, disrupting traditional agricultural hubs and deepening the food crisis. In response, GHAPP leverages Agri-tech innovations to create a more sustainable and secure future for the nation.
Aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Executive Order on Food Security, GHAPP is a proactive solution to these challenges. Prince Samuel Joseph Samuel, Executive Chairman of Origin Tech Group, highlighted the importance of collaboration, stating, "The Greener Hope Programme aims to expand food production by over 2 million metric tonnes through partnerships with Federal, State, and Local governments, as well as the private sector." The initiative plans to create large-scale commercial farming hubs, boosting agricultural output and significantly contributing to Nigeria’s GDP.
The initiative is supported by a consortium of global partners, with funding from the Brazilian Government and Deutsche Bank Group. Leveraging its extensive experience and proven track record of successful partnerships, Origin Tech Group will lead the implementation of this multi-million-dollar investment project. The focus will be on establishing mechanisation hubs nationwide, equipping farmers with the tools and technology necessary to maximise agricultural output and minimise waste.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, has consistently highlighted the importance of this programme. During a recent implementation committee meeting held in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari CON, emphasised how the program will promote agricultural mechanisation and ensure food sufficiency across the country.
The initiative is not only vital for securing Nigeria’s food future but also for protecting local industries, reinforcing the government’s commitment to enhancing the productivity of the nation’s Agro-value chain.
For over 25 years, Origin Tech Group has been a leader in providing innovative, home-grown solutions across various economic sectors, including food systems, automotive, civil engineering, and construction. The Greener Hope Agricultural Productivity Programme is the latest in a series of initiatives dedicated to fostering sustainable development and economic growth in Nigeria.
