Lagos has secured the 6th spot in Time Out’s 2024 global ranking for the best cities for nightlife, surpassing renowned cities like Rotterdam and Manchester.
The ranking, published by the international magazine Time Out, which operates in 333 cities across 59 countries, emphasises Lagos' vibrant nightlife scene, largely fueled by its thriving Afrobeats culture and diverse entertainment options.
The survey, based on feedback from thousands of respondents worldwide, evaluated nightlife based on quality and affordability. Lagos scored an impressive 80% for the quality of its nightlife, while its affordability was rated at 48%, making it accessible to both locals and tourists.
“Lagos earned an 80% quality score for its nightlife scene, and it’s not too expensive to locals either, scoring 48% for affordability,” Time Out reported.
In surpassing cities such as Rotterdam, Manchester, Budapest, and Buenos Aires, Lagos is solidifying its place as a global entertainment hub. However, the city trails behind nightlife giants like Rio de Janeiro, Manila, Berlin, Guadalajara, and Austin, which took the top five spots.
Time Out credits Lagos’ unique appeal to its fusion of rich cultural heritage with modern, dynamic entertainment. Afrobeats continues to dominate the city's nightlife, with venues like Freedom Park and The House on Victoria Island hosting a variety of exciting events, from Sunday salsa to afro house club nights.
Lagos' rise on the global nightlife scene marks a significant milestone for the city, reflecting its ever-evolving status as a premier destination for world-class entertainment.
