Dangote Refinery Refutes NNPCL Claims on Fuel Pricing

...Calls Issued Statement Misleading

Dangote Refinery has firmly denied claims made by NNPCL spokesperson, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, regarding the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at ₦898 per litre to the NNPCL. The refinery described the statement as both misleading and an attempt to undermine its recent milestone achievement on September 15, 2024, aimed at addressing Nigeria's long-standing energy challenges.

In a statement released by Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Dangote Refinery urged the public to disregard the claims. Chiejina emphasised that the official pricing will be announced by the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This committee is set to commence its work on October 1, 2024, with the understanding that the current crude stock was procured in dollars.

“It should also be noted that we sold the products to NNPCL in dollars with a lot of savings against what they are currently importing.  With this action, there will be petrol in every local government area of the country regardless of their remote nature.

“We assure Nigerians of the availability of quality petroleum products and putting an end to the endemic fuel scarcity in the country.”
