FirstBank Secures $200 Million Afreximbank Facility for Key Sectors


First Bank of Nigeria has secured a $200 million facility from Afreximbank to support its clients in the oil and gas, energy, manufacturing, telecommunications, and infrastructure sectors.

The loan agreement was signed at the 31st Afreximbank Annual Meetings in Nassau, Bahamas. The signatories included Olusegun Alebiosu, Acting CEO of First Bank of Nigeria; Awani Kanayo, Executive Vice-President of Intra-African Trade Bank, Afreximbank; and Viswanathan Shankar, CEO of Gateway Partners, representing the African Credit Opportunity Fund.

This significant funding boost will enable FirstBank to enhance its financing capabilities and better serve the diverse needs of its clients engaged in these critical industries.

The 31 AAM2024 with the theme: “Owning our Destiny: Economic Prosperity on the Platform of Global Africa” was held in Nassau, The Bahamas from June 12 to June 15.
