The Football Association and Premier League have approved Sir Jim Ratcliffe's deal to acquire a 25% stake in Manchester United. The British billionaire's purchase is worth about $1.3bn (£1.03bn).
The Glazer family will retain a majority share in the club, although Ratcliffe's Ineos Group will oversee football operations.
The sale cannot be consummated until after the share offer closes, which is Friday night in the United States.
The Premier League's permission is reliant on the deal's completion.
"The Premier League now awaits confirmation of the transaction's completion," the league said in a statement, noting that Ratcliffe, 71, had already signed its owners' charter.
The agreement is the first made under the Premier League's amended owners' and directors' test, which was accepted by member clubs in March 2023 and involves a review by an independent monitoring body.
"The FA can confirm that the Barclays Women's Super League and Barclays Women's Championship Board have approved the acquisition by Sir Jim Ratcliffe of Manchester United Football Club in relation to its Manchester United Women's entity," the Football Association (FA) said in a statement.
