The substantial funds from this donation will be directed towards the Museum's Campaign for Music Education, a project launched in October 2022 with the aim of expanding access to the Museum's education programs, including the renowned GRAMMY In The Schools initiatives.
To commemorate the renaming of the terrace, an official GRAMMY Week event is scheduled for the evening of Monday, January 29, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., just ahead of the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards. Hosted by GRAMMY-winning producer Jimmy Jam, the ribbon-cutting celebration will feature a red carpet, cocktail reception, music curated by GRAMMY-winning DJ Khalil, and a special performance by GRAMMY nominee Aloe Blacc, who will showcase some of Ray Charles' greatest hits.
The GRAMMY Museum's rooftop terrace holds great significance for both the Museum and the community, offering breathtaking 180-degree views of Downtown Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign. With over 150 events hosted annually, it has become one of the most sought-after venues in Downtown Los Angeles.
Valerie Ervin, President of The Ray Charles Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “The GRAMMY Museum embodies the spirit of our mission to empower young people through education. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Museum and assist them in expanding music education, fostering a love of music in our next generation.”
Michael Sticka, President/CEO of the GRAMMY Museum, acknowledged the significance of the donation, especially as the Museum celebrates its 15th Anniversary. He expressed gratitude to The Ray Charles Foundation for their generosity and commitment to the Museum's Campaign for Music Education, emphasizing the profound impact it will have on furthering the institution's educational mission. Sticka added, “It’s an honor to deepen our longstanding relationship.”
