Orange, a prominent supporter of eSports in Africa, is set to make waves with the launch of a special edition of the "Orange eSport Experience" dedicated to eFootball 2024. The event is scheduled for January 19 and 20, 2024, in Abidjan, and will gather participants from 14 African countries.
Since 2016, the Orange Group has played a crucial role in fostering the growth of eSports in Africa by organizing both national and international competitions aimed at showcasing emerging gaming talents from the region. The "Orange eSport Experience" competition, officially established in 2018, has witnessed four editions of pan-African finals.
In alignment with the AFCON 2023 taking place in Côte d'Ivoire, a special edition focused on eFootball 2024 will unfold in Abidjan. The event will bring together representatives from 14 African countries, including Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Guinea, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Central African Republic, Sierra Leone, Benin, Ghana, Gabon, and Togo. Over the course of two days, champions from these nations will engage in fierce competition, vying for the coveted title of African Champion.
The significance of video games has transcended mere entertainment, evolving into a professional discipline that generates employment opportunities, particularly in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and open innovation. The eSports industry now stands as a global market exceeding a billion dollars.
