Evans Industries kicks off local production of IDOLE Soap in Nigeria

Evans Industries Limited, a member of the Ekulo Group of Companies, has launched a cutting-edge manufacturing factory in Lagos for the production of IDOLE Soap, which the firm previously imported from Spain and supplied in Nigeria.

Over the weekend, the opening of Lagos' modern technology production plant took place at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, and the locally created IDOLE range of soaps- IDOLE, IDOLE Papaya, and IDOL Carrot- were on display to the delight of regulatory officers, visitors, and journalists.

Speaking at the launch, Chairman/CEO, Evans Industries Limited, Dr. Emma Bishop Okonkwo said “From our roots of importing and distributing Idole soap from Spain, we have grown into a company that proudly manufactures this iconic product in Nigeria.”

“This transformation is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire Evans Industries team. Our State-of-the-art facility now stands tall, rivalling international standards and affirming not only our commitment to quality but also our ability to compete on the global stage,” said Dr. Okonkwo.

In furtherance of the company’s commitment to producing quality standard products, he said “As we unveil the latest chapter in our story, I am filled with immense pride in introducing the next evolution of Idole soap. This is more than a product,” adding that “It is the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and the unwavering pursuit of excellence.”

Dr. Okonkwo revealed that the decision for Evans Industries to manufacture Idole soap in Nigeria is not just strategic but it is a commitment to contribute to the growth of the nation’s economy and showcase the capabilities that exist within the country.

“We have invested time, effort, and resources to ensure that our facility is equipped with the latest technology and adheres to the highest quality standards with ISO 9001-2015, allowing us not only to meet but to surpass the expectations of our consumers on an international stage.”

“Our commitment to maintaining high-quality standards is unwavering. Evans Industries pledges to continue the legacy of excellence that Idole soap represents. We are not just making soap; we are crafting an experience- a touch of luxury felt by every individual who uses Idole,” he added.

Addressing the press, Mr. Ramon Pardo, chief executive officer of Jabones Pardo, an international partner to Evans Industries on Idole Soap said: “From now on, if you buy Idole soap and the packaging says that it is made in Nigeria by Evans, and it has a NAFDAC number, trust it, it is the authentic and verified product.”

He said that having a production centre in Nigeria is a way of thanking African consumers for their trust in the Idole brand. He stated that this would allow the company to ensure uninterrupted availability of products in Nigeria and West African markets as well as to promote local employment and industrial development of a region very dear to them.

The representative of the Director General of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mr. Moshood Shittu who is also the State Coordinator in Lagos said, “You have not made mistakes by investing in Nigeria. With this state-of-the-art production facility, it is a delight to any regulatory body and we at SON are particularly excited to witness this development.”

He informed consumers that Idole soap has met the highest standards and the product can be consumed anywhere in the world because of the level of quality and standard.
