Juliet Ehimuan, Google West Africa Director, announced her resignation after 12 years with the firm. "After an incredible 12-year journey," she writes on LinkedIn, "I have made the decision to embark on a new adventure and embrace a broader role within our region's tech ecosystem."
“I joined Google over a decade ago, with just myself and a colleague occupying a small office in a serviced building in Nigeria. The office has grown to become a bee-hive of activity with a multi-functional team supporting users and clients across the continent. I’m filled with gratitude and excitement to have been part of the growth story of Google in Nigeria and across Africa!”
She expressed her gratitude for being a part of Google's mission to create Africa's digital landscape, impacting lives throughout the African continent, making technology more accessible, and opening up unlimited possibilities.
Her contributions to Google include: providing free digital skills training to over 6 million people and in-depth training to over 100k developers; launching the Google for Startups Accelerator Programme; localising key products such as Google Maps, Street View, and YouTube.ng; and investing in access projects such as the Equiano undersea fibre cable, among other things.
Though she did not specify her next project, she stated that she is looking forward to combining her "passion for technology and leadership in supporting business leaders as they work to drive innovation and digital transformation in their operations, developing the next generation of African tech leaders, contributing to unlocking value in the dynamic African tech space, and continuing my work on leadership and personal excellence through "30 Days of Excellence"
Google has made no comments regarding her replacement as at the time of filling this report.
