GigaLayer Adjudged 2019 .NG Startup Company of the Year

Leading web hosting startup in Nigeria, GigaLayer has been adjudged the 2019 .NG Startup Company of the Year by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA). The company bagged the accolade at an event held on Friday, 5th July, at Nelo’s Place Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.

The .ng Awards celebrate the achievements and innovation of Nigerian Internet initiatives. The awards promote the Nigerian businesses, individuals, charity, public and private sector organizations which help to make the Internet a more secure, accessible and rewarding experience for all by using .ng domains for their online presence.

From March, 2019 to June, 2019, the general public was encouraged to nominate and vote for worthy companies who use the .ng domain names for their businesses and have promoted the .ng brand.

GigaLayer, formerly known as Aimtech HostingCo, was founded in 2007. It was a side project of Ahmad Mukoshy, a web developer and freelancer at the time a student at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto in Nigeria. The business grew and was rebranded to GigaLayer.com in 2013 to position it self for the Global and African market. It's first office opened in Lagos, 2014 with a workforce of a few people within a technology innovation hub called iDEA Nigeria. In 2015, GigaLayer moved to it's own premises in Lagos, Nigeria with full operations and expansions to reach the entire African market.

Between 2013 and 2017, GigaLayer also made a few acquisitions to boost its market share in Nigeria. The company boasts of virtual presence in over 11 countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, South-Africa, Ghana, Cameroon, and more.
