Premier League football club Arsenal have extended their global sponsorship agreement with video game developer Konami for a further three years.
The company has been the north London club’s official video game partner since 2017 and will now remain in that role until at least June 2022.
The announcement coincides with the release of Konami’s latest edition of ‘Pro Evolution soccer’, eFootball PES 2020.
As with last year’s edition, Arsenal has licensed its image rights to Konami so that gamers can play at the Emirates Stadium using true likenesses of Arsenal players.
To build PES 2020, Konami used 3D scans of Arsenal players to capture their visual likeness and imitate their movements, playing styles and tactical capabilities.
Arsenal commercial director Peter Silverstone said: “We are delighted to be extending our global partnership with Konami. Now in our third year, our relationship continues to go from strength to strength. We are excited to work with Konami to further engage our huge global fanbase and give them the opportunity to experience the players, Legends and Emirates Stadium so accurately within eFootball PES 2020.“
Konami first signed as Arsenal’s Official Football Video Game Partner in 2017. It is a third-tier, global partner, alongside brands such as Betfair, MBNA and SportPesa.
