Ariana Grande has surpassed Selena Gomez to become the most followed woman on Instagram, notching over 146 million followers.
After making history last week by becoming the first musician since The Beatles to nab the top three spots on the Billboard 100 — thanks to hit singles “7 Rings,” “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored,” and “thank u, next” — Ariana Grande is continuing on a record-breaking February. The singer recently became the most followed woman on Instagram, notching over 146 million followers.
Grande has 146,355,023 followers, ousting Selena Gomez who was formally the most followed woman with 146,295,281 followers. Grande has racked up even more fans since the news broke, with her Instagram follow count jumping to 146,394,932.
Gomez’s base is also on the rise, with the artist up to 146,305,204 followers. The “Wolves” singer publicly announced a social media hiatus in September 2018, which lasted until January 14 and may have attributed to Grande’s ascent.
Still, the most followed person on Instagram overall goes to Cristiano Ronaldo — who notably snatched the crown from Gomez in October 2018. The Portuguese soccer player currently stands at 155,967,622 followers on the social media platform.
