Chapecoense honoured with Laureus Best Sporting Moment of the Year Award

Brazilian football team Chapecoense have been crowned winners of the Laureus Best Sporting Moment of the Year Award for successfully rebuilding club after the majority of their first-team squad were killed in a plan crash.



The plane carrying the Chapecoense team, along with club officials and journalists, to Medellín for the first leg final against the Colombian side Atlético Nacional in 2016, killing 71 people including 19 players.

Given the circumstances, that they ended the Brasileirao campaign eighth was an astonishing achievement.
