ChopUp Collaboration with Paga to Launch Mobile e-Sports Platform

Leading Nigerian mobile gaming company, ChopUp has partnered with Paga, Nigeria’s preferred digital financial services company, to launch Africa’s first mobile eSports platform. This service, which kicks off on the 4th of December 2017, will afford gamers the opportunity to compete for bragging rights and win cash prizes daily. The first game is “Monkey Post” Street Soccer - building on the love we all have for football and childhood memories of playing on the streets.

Speaking on the partnership, ChopUp Co-Founder, Zubair Abubakar, stated “At ChopUp, we keep coming up with innovative ways to keep game lovers entertained and to show off their skills doing what they love. This is another platform for participants to meet each other and have fun while winning cool cash prizes”

Paga Founder and CEO, Tayo Oviosu said “We love to support forward-looking companies like ChopUp who are creating new ways for Nigerians to engage with their mobile phones. ChopUp is taking advantage of Paga Connect, our one-click payments solution to offer in-app payments. With Paga Connect any 3rd party developer or company can implement one-click payments in their application without needing to worry about the core payments infrastructure. At Paga we see our work as building the base payments and financial services infrastructure that others can leverage to deliver their services.”

The platform will kick off with ChopUp’s latest game, ‘Monkey Post’ with other titles to be launched in the near future. This game is currently open to residents in Nigeria and all gamers will need to open a Paga account.

Players can track their progress through a leaderboard and can compete for the top position every day of the week from. Daily competitions run between 8am- 8pm every day of the week with an entry fee of N50 for a one-time pass and N200 for an all-day pass. The entry fee for each player will be added to the default N10,000 prize pool so the more people who participate, the higher the cash prizes.
