Usain Bolt Could Become Puma's Head of Caribbean Business After Retirement

German sportswear giant Puma has reveals that Jamaican sprint superstar Usain Bolt could become head of its Caribbean business following his impending retirement from athletics.

Puma has sponsored Bolt since he was 15, with the now 30-year-old set to hang up his spikes following the 2017 World Athletics Championships, which commence today (Friday, 4th August, 2017) in London, England.



Speaking to German newspaper Handelsblatt, Puma chief executive Bjorn Gulden said: “Usain Bolt could be even more important for us when he stops running. I can even imagine that he could run our business in the Caribbean.”

Bolt maintained his long-standing connection to Puma by extending his endorsement deal with the company in September 2013, a contract that was designed to run through and beyond the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The Jamaican has been the face of multiple global marketing campaigns orchestrated by Puma as an integral part of the firm’s commercial activities.

In addition to its contract endorsement with Bolt, Puma has a longstanding commitment to Jamaican track and field. Since 2002, Puma has partnered with the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association and the Jamaica Olympic Association.
