Automotive manufacturing firm, Volkswagen has ousted rival Mercedes-Benz as a major partner of the German Football Association (DFB) after agreeing a five-year contract with the national governing body.
The contract ends Mercedes-Benz 45 years relationship with the DFB.
VW's agreement with DFB will kick off from January 1, 2019 and runs until July 31, 2024.
According to the football association, the decision follows a "detailed economic and substantive analysis" of bids from Mercedes-Benz and VW.
