In less than two months, top government executives, technology experts, business leaders and start-ups would converge in Nigeria’s capital – Abuja, and Lagos, the nation’s economic hub for this year’s Africa’s Largest technology gathering, TechPlus Conference & Expo 2017.
This year’s TechPlus Conference & Expo, is scheduled for July 4th in Abuja and July 5th- 8th, 2017, at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. The Abuja event is principally aimed at synchronizing government participation and policy formulation with growth and development of technology in West Africa.
Speaking to a select group of media executives in Lagos at a press conference, the General Manager of TechPlus, Taiwo Oyewole revealed that this year’s ‘activity-filled’ edition of TechPlus was specifically packaged for West African entrepreneurs and start-ups who are willing to take advantage of amazing business opportunities technology offers in the highly populated sub-region.
It is expected that TechPlus 2017 would live up to its billing as Africa’s largest Tech gathering where new technologies come to life, new products are launched and innovation converges.
With this year’s theme, ‘An Intelligent Future: from Connectivity to Digital Immersion’, observers believe 2017 TechPlus will bring more companies from around the world to showcase and project how technology is evolving to meet the needs of today’s digital generation and modern businesses.
The General Manager of TechPlus, Taiwo Oyewole also stressed that this year’s TechPlus Conference is introducing a master class segment designed to give attendees practical guidance on a variety of key tech related topics like artificial intelligence and digital disruption. There would also be a focus on how to deepen the growth of technology start –ups in the country.
He explained that experienced professionals will be brought in to share on ways and methods to make Start-ups stand out, and how best to optimize the local ecosystem to get them to the next level.
Apart from empowering Start-ups, other tracks on offer during the 2017 conference include Women in tech, Tech money, Tech for development, C-suite, Content, Media and Marketing, Techkids, e-Sports and Tech meets life. Thought leaders in all these fields would be invited to share about developments and applications in their various sectors.
Some of the issues that speakers during the Women in tech session will address include mentorship, promoting gender balance in technology and women empowerment.
Tech Kids will investigate the impact of devices and their technologies on families as well as parenting best practices in this new digital era. The e-Sports track seeks to explain how the rise of gaming has become infused into society and continues to evolve worldwide.
At the Tech Meets Life stream, the prevalence of technology and how it affects everyday life in health, agriculture, personal security etc. will be dissected. At Tech Money, the evolution of payment solutions and human behavior as it interfaces with digital payments are topics to anticipate. Whilst the Tech in Development will aim to dissect through a different lens, how existing technology can be used to achieve the required advancement.
The faculty for the Content, Media and Marketing through presentations will show how boundaries have blurred and will continue to do so when it comes to marketing, content and technology. C-suite tracks are geared to speak to business heads, assisting them with how to deploy and leverage tech to achieve market leadership and shape the future.
Panel discussions, renowned speakers and vigorous interaction await each participant at any track of his choice.
The Project Director, Eruke Ideh-Ichofu revealed that over a hundred speakers are expected to make presentations at this year’s event. According to her, the speakers will include Bolade Agboade, Founder Kids Entrepreneurs and Silas Adekunle, the co-founder and CEO of Reach Robotics, a company creating the future of entertainment by fusing robotics, augmented reality and video games. Others include Adedayo Adesanya, Lead Training Consultant Virtual Nigeria (Red Hat Certified Training partner) and Victor Sanchez Aghahowa a screenwriter, director and producer for film and television.
