The 11th annual Kreole Festival for the indigenous people of the Mauritius Islands opens tomorrow in Quatre Barnes Municipality of the Indian Ocean luxury Island. Nestled neatly between Madagascar and Seychelles and a destination of rest and rejuvenation for the elite European egalitarians in the 1900's, Mauritius has today become synonymous with its fresh outlook, economic agility of what African can become, and an offshore African hub of technology and financial services.
This week however belongs to the hundreds of thousands of the Islands Indigenous people, who celebrate their arts, film, and culture as part of the annual Kreole Festival week. This year, the government invited 2 people to grace the event as their very special "August" guests - the Ashanti King from Kumasi - Ghana; Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, and 14 year old film maker Zuriel Oduwole.

She would be the invited guest judge for the film festival, screening many films over the festival period. She was received at the airport earlier today by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Adrien DUVAL and the Chairman of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority - Arnaud MARTIN.
