In order to curb the proliferation of counterfeit Cummins fleetguard products in the country, Cummins has launched an anti-counterfeit campaign tagged “Be sure. Be secure. Buy with confidence”.
A new shop front in ASPAMDA – (The Auto parts and Machinery Dealers Association) will be driving the companies’ anti-counterfeit campaign by providing consumers with original Cummins products and educating them on how to spot original products.
Speaking at the event, Kwame Gyan-Tawiah, Managing Director Cummins West Africa said that; “we have opened the ASPAMDA shop front in order to make our products available in the local market while educating customers on how to identify original products. Our business concerns goes beyond manufacturing of engines, we also support our trade partners so as to provide suitable solutions to consumers’ needs. Our aim is not to compete with local merchants; we intend to be a part of the ASPAMDA association to share ideas and collaborate with them to contribute our quota to its growth”.
“We are here to support the team and make sure our genuine products are available because the purchase of counterfeits product has more effect than the average customer can imagine as they open them to engine damage, recurrent maintenance costs and health risk owing to the quality of the materials used in producing the products.” He added.
Speaking on the motive behind the ASPAMDA shop front opening, Feroze Chowdary; Director Components Cummins filtration stated that the ASPAMDA investment demonstrates Cummins value for forging valuable collaborations. We intend to be part of creating a market that can attract patronage from all across West Africa and the rest of the world. ”We want to work with ASPAMDA to create a world class market that will deliver value to customers’’.
Hon. Luke Ojukwu, Deputy CSO of ASPAMDA expressed delight at the opening of the new shop front, he confirmed that the new store will create more business opportunities for dealers by giving them easy access to the products and the confidence of buying genuine products.
