Nokia Networks will work with WIND Mobile as its sole network infrastructure provider and innovation partner to bring the most advanced LTE network technology to Canadians. Nokia Networks will deploy cloud-based core technologies that enable VoLTE, VoWi-Fi and IMS services.
By implementing cutting-edge technologies, offloading its voice traffic and better utilizing its spectrum, WIND will more than double network capacity and speed, achieve substantial network efficiency gains and deliver a better network experience for its customers.
Under the five-year deal, Nokia Networks will provide a comprehensive end-to-end solution that includes deployment of new radio LTE, LTE virtualized core and OSS (NetAct to support the LTE and core elements).
The modernization of WIND's network will involve network implementation, network planning and optimization and care services in order to ensure consistent quality and a successful upgrade. Nokia Networks will also provide cloud wise services, including systems integration for VoLTE and packet core deployment.
Alek Krstajic, CEO, WIND Mobile, said: "We have worked with Nokia Networks since our inception in 2009, and they have been a trusted partner as we've expanded our footprint and subscriber base over the years. This new partnership with Nokia Networks as our sole source LTE network provider allows WIND to bring the most advanced technologies available to our customers. With Nokia, WIND is positioned as Canada's fourth largest wireless provider, bringing affordable wireless service to even more Canadians."
Ricky Corker, Executive Vice President of North America, Nokia Networks: "Our partnership with WIND as its sole network infrastructure provider is unique in the industry. WIND has put its complete trust in us, and we are committed to helping them bring new technologies and capabilities to the market, and achieve their goal of delivering the best network experience for their customers."
