Google's Android One Officially Expanding to Europe

Following Google's Android One entry into the Africa mobile market through the Infinix Hot 2 which was recently launched in Kenya, the company is now planning to extend to expands the Android One program to Europe.

The first European countries where Android One devices will be sold are Spain and Portugal, where local phone maker BQ will offer the Aquaris A4.5 for €169.9 and €179.9 respectively.

The BQ Aquaris A4.5 is not a premium device but that is not a surprise since Android One devices are not meant to be premium. It comes with a 4.5 inch display, 1GB of RAM, a 2470 mAh battery, a 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, LTE and a resolution of 540×960 pixels.

Android One is Google’s effort at making sure customers can get the best Android experience possible, without paying flagship prices. The company works mostly with lesser-known brands and has seen mixed results in the markets that it’s currently available. Unlike other budget Android smartphones, Android One devices will get OS updates as soon as they’re available and they don’t have any customer OEM software on top.
