As directed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Airtel Nigeria has blocked the mobile telephone lines of all customers yet to register their SIM cards.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the telecommunication company said following the directive from NCC to ban all customers who are yet to fully complete their SIM registration requirements, “we wish to inform you that the barring of non-compliant lines has commenced on the Airtel Network.”
Airtel advised those affected to reactivate their lines or update their records accordingly. “For customers who have duly completed the SIM registration requirements as stipulated by the NCC, please be assured that your lines will continue to remain functional and your services will not be interrupted,” the statement said.
