The Nigerian Breweries Plc, organisers of the Golden Pen Award has announced entries for the 2015 edition, declaring the sum of N2.75 million in total prize for the seven categories.
In a media briefing held at the company’s office in Lagos, the company’s Corporate Affairs Adviser, Mr. Kufre Ekanem, revealed that the theme of education, youth empowerment and talent development, will also be adopted this year as was done during the last edition.
According Ekanem, submission of entries, begins on Tuesday, July 28, after the briefing and will close on Friday, September 21.
Speaking further, the Corporate Affairs Adviser detailed the categories of the award and the prizes to include, The Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Reporter of the Year (N1m); first runner-up for the Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Reporter of the Year (N300, 000.00) and second runner-up for the Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Reporter of the Year (N200, 000.00).
Others according to him are, The Nigerian Breweries Report of the Year (N500, 000.00); The Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Photojournalist of the Year (N300, 000.00); first runner-up for the Nigerian Breweries Photojournalist of the Year (N250, 000.00) and second runnerup for the Nigerian Breweries Photojournalist of the Year (N200, 000.00).
According to him, winners in the three major catergories will also receive special statuettes. Winners will be announced and awarded their prizes at the 7th Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Award ceremony scheduled to hold on Friday, October 30.
The Nigerian Breweries Golden Pen Award was inaugurated in 2008 to celebrate the partnership between Nigerian Breweries and the Nigerian media. The award was introduced to promote professionalism and objective reportage of events in corporate Nigeria. It is also meant to reward journalists who abide by the fine ethics of the profession.
All entries are to be sent to the independent coordinating agency, Mediacraft Associates via Goldenpen2014@mediacraft.ng. Mediacraft Associates will collate all entries submitted for assessment by a jury. The jury will analyse the reports and photographs for their Originality, News Value, Use of Resources, Credibility and Factuality. Other areas of interest would include Info-graphics, Lay out/Headline, Clarity and Social impact.
