Project Fame West Africa Season 8: Auditions to Storm Ibadan, Ghana

After Abuja and Port Harcourt, the next phase of the MTN Project Fame auditions, West Africa’s biggest and longest running musical talent hunt competition is set to hold on June 27, 2015 at Ibadan and Ghana.

While the Abuja leg of the auditions featured a special performance by Goeffrey, winner of last year’s edition of Project Fame, the Port Harcourt auditions was no less exciting as the hopefuls put in superlative performances all in a bid to impress the judges.

The judges for this year’s MTN Project Fame auditions comprises Matilda Duncan, Gang and GospelOnDaBeatz in the Abuja leg while the trio of Mary Ann Okon, Ada Onwusiribe and Chuks Robert decided the fates of the aspirants in Port Harcourt.

The Abuja and Port Harcourt auditions, attracted a host of some of the country’s most talented music enthusiasts, all seeking an opportunity to be selected for the live auditions in Lagos.

Day one of the auditions saw the aspiring music superstars completing their registration formalities after which they were put through a pre-audition session before the judges to determine who would make it to the auditions proper scheduled for the next day.


The second day was the auditions proper and the aspiring Project Fame contestants had to impress the judges with their vocal skills to earn the right to proceed to the next stage of the competition. For some of the contestants, it was a sad end to their quest for fame as they did not make it through to the next stage. Others got a yes from the judges which earned them a passage to Lagos for the Live Auditions. A number of the contestants who got a ‘maybe’ from the judges were pitched against each other to decide who would join the others to the Lagos auditions.

Speaking on the auditions, GospelOnDebeatz, one of the judges at the Abuja auditions expressed satisfaction at the auditions. While praising the aspirants for their consistency, he expressed optimism that the eventual winner will emerge from Abuja.

He said: “I think the Abuja auditions have been quite an experience given the array of talents that we have seen so far. It’s nice to see that some of them have been very consistent in coming back to try their luck even when they didn’t make it in the previous years. With what Abuja has produced, I am sure that one of these guys will go all the way to emerge the winner.”

Also speaking was Chuks Robert, one of the judges from the Port Harcourt leg of the auditions. According to Roberts, Project Fame has established itself as Nigeria’s number one musical talent hunt competition. While commending MTN for the show, Roberts advised the successful aspirants to always put in their best throughout the competition.

In his comments, Goeffrey, season seven winner of Project fame, expressed gratitude to MTN Project Fame for giving him the platform to express his talents. He also encouraged other contestants to remain humble and diligent.

The shortlisted individuals from Abuja and Port Harcourt will be joined by others from Ibadan, Lagos and Ghana to the Live auditions in Lagos to decide who makes it to the MTN Project Fame Academy.

The winner of the competition will win a grand price of N5m, a brand new SUV and a recording deal worth millions of naira while the first runner up will get a saloon car and N3million in cash. The second runner will be awarded a brand new saloon car along with N1million while the third runner up will receive a cash prize of N1million.
