After avoiding relegation, Hamburg gets sponsor renewal

With Gojko Kacar's 87th-minute winner gave Bundesliga top-tier German football club Hamburg a huge boost in their bid to avoid relegation, securing a 2-1 triumph at Mainz on Sunday.

The club celebrated the narrow escape with the extension to a partnership with Care-Energy.

The energy company signed its renewal yesterday (Monday), ahead of the club’s crucial relegation-promotion play-off against second-tier club Karlsruher last night.

The deal with Care-Energy will run for three years, from 2015-16 to 2017-18. The energy company said that the agreement was set in stone regardless of which division Hamburg played in.

Hamburg remain the only Bundesliga club never to have been relegated.
