Atlanta's 2015 summit of Nobel Peace Prize to Hold November 15-19

Reaffirming the decision of the board that was taken on the March 10th board meeting, the host Nobel Peace Prize winner for the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has informed the Secretariat that the Atlanta Summit will be held as scheduled in November.

The summit which is expected to be the largest gathering of Nobel Peace Prize laureates at any Summit ever - will be held from November 15-19 at the Georgia World Congress Center. By then, Atlanta will have at least 21 of the 30 living recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize in the city.

"This will be an opportunity to push back all the past differences and move forward with goodwill and unconditional support for the Atlanta Summit," wrote Professor Yunus to Nobel Secretariat representative Enzo Cursio. The Atlanta Summit "will not be tarnished by any bad feeling anywhere," Professor Yunus wrote.

Dr. Bhuiyan and his wife Shamima Amin have worked for the last two years without any pay and with ceremonial titles raising money and organizing the Summit and they do not have any control of the fund. More than $3 million has been raised, enough to fund the meeting of potentially 30 individuals and 15 organizations that have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in the past.


The Atlanta Organizing Committee for the Nobel Peace Laureate Summit has issued a request for proposals to hire an event management agency and public relations marketing firm to work on the Summit. The Summit is also in the process of hiring a professional event manager on staff.

A statement from the World Summit board reads: The Nobel Peace Laureates Summit is not the Olympics and does not require huge staff but it does have global implications. It is a great opportunity for students and leaders from around the state, the country and the world to benefit from participating in sessions with them while they are in Atlanta.
