SanDisk, in the ongoing MWC, has unveiled a new 200GB microSD card. Putting the 200GB capacity in perspective, the memory is enough to record 20 hours of 1080p videos.
The actual name of the card is the 200GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card, Premium Edition. With the 200GB capacity, it goes right to the top as the largest capacity microSD card available for use in mobile devices.
While we might be seeing a 256GB microSD card in the future, the chances of a 1TB (or even 512GB) microSD card coming out are looking mighty slim at this point.
Like the 128GB card we reported on last year, the 200GB version will also be compatible with the Memory Zone app, as well as all of its features, like OptiMem.
The new 200GB microSD card will become available worldwide in Q2 for $400. The card also features a ten-year limited warranty.
"We continue to push technology boundaries to deliver record-breaking solutions that transform the way consumers use their mobile devices," said Dinesh Bahal, vice president, product marketing, SanDisk, in the press release. "By focusing on achieving new capacity and speed milestones, we are able to deliver trusted mobile memory solutions that give consumers the freedom to never stop capturing, saving, or sharing - with the benefit of fast speeds to transfer it all quickly."
