With Mark Zuckerberg’s raging success rate, it is no surprise that he has some excellent business tricks up his sleeve.
While speaking at a question-and-answer session the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Facebook’s CEO revealed his golden rule for hiring: “I will only hire someone to work directly for me if I would work for that person. It’s a pretty good test and I think this rule has served me well”.
Zuckerberg has employed some of the best technology experts in the world as the success of Facebook clearly shows it. One of his best recruitment decisions was to hire Sheryl Sandberg as the chief operating officer.
The entrepreneur, who is worth around $35bn (£22.9bn), further revealed how he believes in keeping his working team as small as possible. With the help of advanced technology, Facebook currently only has less than 10,000 employees serving over a billion people globally.
"Facebook serves more than a billion people around the world but our team has fewer than 10,000 people. It's only possible because of modern technology. Big companies get bloated."
"Facebook is not a company for everyone in the world."
In competition with Facebook, other tech giants in Silicon Valley have much larger teams like that of Google with over 55,000 employees.
When asked if Facebook had a future outside social networking and the internet, he said that while the aim of Facebook to connect people globally was ‘quite broad’, the idea was ‘pretty focused’ but he did mention the possibility of looking into future advanced technology.
