From next month, long queues that characterize passport application at the Immigration Department in Kenya will soon be a thing of the past as citizens will be required to apply for the document through the e-Citizen portal.
The announcement was posted by the Immigration Department on its twitter handle @ImmigrationDept said application forms otherwise known as Form 19 will now be found on www.ecitizen.go.ke from where the applications will be made.
The new development is expected to take effect from April 15.
Launched in 2014, eCitizen is organised to serve citizens needs without you having to know which government agency is responsible for a particular service, policy or programme. eCitizen is an initiative by the Ministry of Finance and is managed by the ICT Authority of Kenya(IDA).
