Instagram Unveils New Features, But ONLY For Brands

Instagram
As its marketing sophistication slowly increase, Instagram on Thursday moved a 'step forward' with the introduction of a new feature - "carousel ad" along with links.

According to the photo-sharing app, the move comes in response to advertiser requests for ways to tell sequenced stories.

The carousel enable brand consumers have options to click on additional content or visit a website to learn more.

Instagram started selling ads in late 2013, and its clients have included top brands like Levi's, Ben and Jerry's, Disney and Banana Republic. It started with sponsored images and evolved to offer sponsored videos.

It's a shame this feature is rolling out first to brands, because photo sets like these would likely be a hit with average users. They're hugely popular on Tumblr, generated automatically by Facebook's News Feed, and have more recently been adopted by Twitter. And users are already hacking photo sets onto Instagram using third-party apps that group multiple photos into a single image.
