On Monday, the world's biggest social network platform, Facebook announced an updated in its community standards to give its users more guidance about what types of posts are not allowed on the service.
In a blog accompanying its new Community Standards, the company said it was not changing its policies, but was providing "more detail and clarity on what is not and is not allowed".
In particular it provided new guidance on Self-injury, Dangerous organisations, Bullying and harassment, Criminal activity, Sexual violence and exploitation, Nudity, Hate speech, Violence and graphic content.
Here is a brief explainer of some of those areas:
Dangerous organisations
Facebook says it does not allow any organisations to have a presence on Facebook if they are engaged in terrorist activity, organised criminal activity or promoting hate against people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition.
The site said any content "that expresses support" for groups or leaders guilty of the above will also be removed.
Bullying and harrassment
The social network says it will remove content that appears to intentionally target "private individuals with the intention of degrading or shaming them.
This may include pages and images created to identify and shame individuals, photos or videos of physical bullying intended to embarrass and the sharing of personal information to blackmail or harass.
Also barred is repeated targeting of people with unwanted friend requests or messages.
Hate speech
Facebook says it has always banned hate speech, and says that it talks regularly to governments, users and experts from around the world in an effort to recognise and remove it.
In the new guidelines, hate speech is said to include content that directly attacks people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender and identity, or serious disabilities and diseases.
Nudity
Facebook says that in its attempts to respond to some readers' sensitivities quickly, its policies "can sometimes be more blunt than we would like and restrict content shared for legitimate purposes" such as campaigns or artistic projects.
However, it gave advice that genitals, fully exposed buttocks and, in some instances female nipples would be restricted, despite criticism from some campaigners.
We also restrict some images of female breasts if they include the nipple, but we always allow photos of women actively engaged in breastfeeding or showing breasts with post-mastectomy scarring.
We also allow photographs of paintings, sculptures and other art that depicts nude figures.
