Avram Grant becomes new Ghana coach

Former Chelsea and West Ham manager Avram Grant has agreed in principle to become the next Ghana coach, the nation's FA has confirmed.

Though financial terms on his deal are yet to be finalised, the 59-year-old Israeli will succeed Kwesi Appiah.

Speaking with reporters, Kwesi Nyantakyi, head of the Ghananian FA, said Grant stood out on the final shortlist. He stated that if terms cannot be finalised with the former West Ham boss, Juan Jimenez will take over.

Ghana parted ways with Appiah on September 12 after playing two 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the coach having failed to led the Black Stars beyond the group stages of the World Cup over the summer amidst player revolt which led to the expulsion of two midfielders – Sulley Muntari and Kevin- Prince Boateng - from the camp.
