StarTimes showcases digital broadcast capacity at Africast

Foremost digital pay-TV provider, StarTimes has unveiled its improved range of cutting edge technological products designed for building infrastructure and capacity for seamless digital broadcast, and most essential for terrestrial broadcast stations in transiting from analogue into full digital television and radio broadcasting.

Addressing journalists at the company's exhibition booth at the ongoing Africast digital broadcast seminar in Abuja on Tuesday, Israel Bolaji, Public Relations Manager at NTA- Star TV Network, said StarTimes is a global capacity builder in system integration for large scale digital television and radio project, research and development of digital broadcast core technology as well as installation, content synchronization, smooth network operation, maintenance and manpower development for digital pay-TV.

"The Africast conference brings the best of digital broadcast experts, practitioners, academics, policy makers and governments together from across Africa once in two years. We are using the platform to showcase our robust state of the art modern technological infrastructure for digital broadcasting for both terrestrial and satellite operations. As you are aware, there is a global mandate through the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for a complete shift from analogue to a better and modern television by 2015.

The overall goal is to offer better television experience with modern and better technology just like we have in telecommunication, education, transportation, mailing system and other areas. The digital switch will offer clearer and crisp television signal, access to wider range of both local and international channels for everyone in the comfort of their homes. For television stations on analogue, we can provide them with digital TV equipment, train personnel and facilitate their placements on StarTimes network.” Bolaji added

Commenting on 2015 digital migration deadline, Bolaji said Nigerians can confidently migrate into digital space with StarTimes as it provides them with the latest technologies like PVR and DVB-T2 technology and offers quality digital pay TV with over 80 channels of great sports, music, movies, news, kids and teens’ entertainment, documentary, religion and lots more.

Currently in Nigeria, StarTimes has started the process of digitalizing local television stations in Nigeria with Jos as the pilot phase and we have recorded huge success.
