The award given by the Osolo of Isolo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Kolawole Agbabiaka, was part of the programmes lined up to commemorate the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the Royal Father. This award makes it the second that Promasidor would receive this year.
Early in the year, Promasidor emerged one of the winners of the Lagos State Government Support-Our-Schools-Initiative Corporate Social Responsibility Award for 2014. Other winners of that award are Nestle Nigeria, NBL, GTBank, FirstBank, UAC, Daystar Christian Centre, ESSPIN, UNICEF, CAP, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR/NNPC), MTN Nigeria, Fountain of Life Church, and Addax Petroleum Nigeria. The award, according to a statement, is given to Promasidor in recognition of the company’s contribution to the Lagos State Government Ministry of Education Support Our Schools Initiative project for promoting teaching and learning of Mathematics through Mathematics competition in all public senior secondary schools in the state.
The Lagos State Government also last year presented Corporate Organisation Tax Compliance award to Promasidor, in recognition of its compliance with the state’s tax laws. The award was presented to the company by Lagos Sate Governor, Babatunde Fashola at the sixth Lagos State Taxation Stakeholders’ conference held within the state.
Meanwhile, speaking on the latest award, Alhaji Samsudeen Abiodun Olaleye, Chairman, Isolo Local Council Development Authority (LCDA); said Promasidor is exceptional when it comes to noticeable CSR in the Isolo Community under the Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Lagos State. His words: “Promasidor, what you have done to Isolo community has no parallel. At the company, they are always talking about issues that will bring real development to the residents of the community.”
He noted that anybody that contributes to community development anywhere will surely be recognised one day as Promasidor was honoured. “When you are in a community and you contribute to the development of such communities, a time like this will come when you will be appreciated”, he stated.
Presenting the award, Oba Agbabiaka disclosed that Promasidor had greatly assisted the Isolo community in the area of execution of various projects that impact positively on the welfare of the people. His words: “In terms of infrastructure development and general support to the entire community, Promasidor has carved out a niche for itself. This would be difficult for anybody to match.”
The Royal Father therefore said the award was to reciprocate the good gestures of Promasidor for the residents of the Isolo community.
In his response, Mr. Olivier Thiry, the Managing Director of Promasidor, thanked the Kabiesi for the honour bestowed on the company. According to him, the award signifies the call for Promasidor to do more for its host communities generally. He therefore promised that the company would not leave any stone unturned in supporting all its host communities whenever the need arises.
