“The Galaxy S5 mini delivers powerful performance, as well as the same dedicated fitness tools and enhanced device protection features found in the stylish Galaxy S5,” the company said.
Samsung said the release falls in line with the company’s aim of developing a wide range of devices that appeal to the tastes and styles of consumers.
“The Galaxy S5 mini allows consumers to enjoy the iconic design and essential and useful features of the Galaxy S5 through a maximized minimalism approach,” said JK Shin, chief executive officer (CEO) and head of IT and Mobile Communication at Samsung.
The slimmed down handset will include many of the predicted features and specifications. Including a 4.5-inch 720 x 1280 AMOLED display, quad-core 1.4GHz processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage with an expandable microSD slot.
As expected, the S5’s IP67 certification, power-saving mode, heart rate monitor and fingerprint scanner will also feature in the new handset.
